The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three boaters early Sunday when their craft began sinking off the coast of Lengthy Department, the company mentioned.
Lengthy Department is round 80 miles north of Atlantic Metropolis.
The Coast Guard mentioned they obtained a name from a Monmouth County 911 dispatcher at 9:14 a.m. reporting the boaters need assistance, about three miles offshore.
A motor lifeboat from the Manasquan Inlet station and a helicopter from the Atlantic Metropolis station responded. The helicopter, which was already on a coaching mission, lowered a rescue swimmer into the ocean to help the three in boarding the lifeboat, the company mentioned. They had been all sporting life jackets.
The three had been taken to a marina within the Shark River, between Belmar and Neptune, with out damage.
